TAF TSI Project

The TAF TSI regulation defines the common standards which railway operators and infrastructure managers will have to apply in the coming years in their exchanges of data concerning rail freight services. The purpose of this is to improve the tracking of rail freight consignments all over Europe and improve customer information and service. The regulation also required that the European railways deliver a Strategic European Deployment Plan describing how they will gradually implement the new standards.

The Union Internationale des Chemins de Fer (UIC) invites applications from suitably experienced companies to develop a fully functional Common Communications Interface with a web service-based Metadata Management System and two industry Reference Files (called TAF-TSI Common System Components) which conform to the requirements of the Telematics Applications for Freight Technical Specification for Interoperability as listed in the Directive 2001/16/EC and published as Commission Regulation 2006/62/EC.

ELOG has been chosen by the TAF TSI Common Components Special Group to be the sole supplier of the first stage of TAF TSI implementation in Europe and will be providing Common Interface, the corner stone of the new liberalized railway market.

The Common Interface contract directs ELOG to design, develop, distribute and support the main back-bone of rail-related information to all stake-holders across the continent. ELOG will be maintaining the project, once live, supporting operators all across Europe.
